Melvin Rosen

Melvin Rosen
Melvin Rosen's life was filled with Judaism, philanthropy and education. He belonged to a temple in the South Side for many years, and enjoyed the history and architecture of the synagogue.

Melvin also was involved in the Jewish community through his generous giving; he donated regularly to the Jewish United Fund and to the ARK. Melvin also purchased two Charitable Gift Annuities through Federation. His tzedakah helped numerous non-sectarian organizations, too, ranging from WTTW Channel 11 to the Arthritis Foundation.

Melvin was passionate about education and Chicago history. He could drive to any part of the city and tell you its history. Melvin passed away on May 20, 2007. He will be remembered by friends and family as an excellent conversationalist who enjoyed discussing politics, news, sports and religion.
